General & Safety

KRKB (Kids Review Kids' Books) is a reading community where young readers can discover books, share reviews, take quizzes, write stories, join clubs, and participate in class or library reading programs.
Yes, KRKB is designed as a safe and respectful online community. We have strict guidelines: no personal information (like real names, addresses, or schools) is allowed. All content is moderated to ensure it is appropriate.
Individual KRKB accounts can still be used for free. Schools and libraries can also request the paid KRKB School/Library Plan for organization seats, setup support, moderation tools, reading challenges, reports, and manual invoice/PO support.
Teachers and librarians can use KRKB Setup to create classes or Reading Programs, add readers, print QR access, share book shelves, run challenges, review submitted work, send family instructions, and view reports.
Use the Procurement Packet for privacy summaries, AI use, moderation, data deletion, subprocessors, accessibility, invoice/PO instructions, and the downloadable approval PDF.
Yes. The Setup + Rollout Materials include teacher, school library, and public library plans plus scripts, family letters, QR posters, rubrics, weekly emails, and report templates.
When a reader is connected, parents and caregivers can use the Parent Portal to see recent activity, account controls, library preferences, and short summaries. Teachers and librarians can also print or email take-home instructions for a class or program.
Not yet, but we are working on it! For now, our website is fully responsive and works great on phones and tablets.
Yes, we welcome users worldwide! However, currently, the platform is available only in English.
If you see something that breaks our rules, please use the Report button found on reviews and comments, or email us directly at contact@krkb.org.

Account & Profile

Generally, usernames cannot be changed once created to ensure community safety and consistency. If you have a specific reason (e.g., it contains real personal info), please contact support.
To keep everyone safe, all profile pictures are reviewed by our moderation team before they become visible to others. This usually takes 4-24 hours.
For security and auditing purposes, email changes are restricted. Please contact support if you need assistance with this.
You can delete your account from the Account Settings page in your profile. Please note this action is permanent and will remove all your reviews and points.
No. While we protect your real identity (you should use a nickname!), you must create an account to post content. This helps us maintain a safe community.

Reviews & Moderation

Search for the book using the top search bar. Once you're on the book page, look for the "Write a Review" button. If you've already reviewed it, the button will say "Edit Review".
Every review and story goes through a dual moderation system (AI and Human). If the smart system flags a word as potentially unsafe or confusing, it places it in a pending queue for our human moderators to review. This usually takes between 4 to 24 hours.
Rejections happen to keep our community safe and kind. Content is usually rejected for: containing personal information (schools, names), using inappropriate language, cyberbullying, or writing gibberish/spam. You'll always receive feedback letting you know what type of issue was detected.
Sometimes our automated systems are too strict! If you believe your writing was perfectly fine, you can click the "Request Manual Review" button on your rejected item. A human moderator will double-check it and approve it if it follows the rules.
Absolutely! Honest opinions help everyone. Just remember to be respectful—criticize the book, not the author or other readers.
We ask that you avoid spoilers so you don't ruin the surprise for others. If you must discuss a plot twist, please add a clear warning at the start of your review.
Our team reviews all content to ensure safety. Reviews typically appear within 4-6 hours, but can take up to 24 hours.
Currently, you can only review books listed in our system. We are constantly updating our library with millions of titles!
Yes! You can leave a star rating without writing text. Your rating will still count towards the book's average.

Features & Library Integration

Go to the Parent Portal and look for the Reading App Integration section. Select your preferred app (Libby, Sora, or Hoopla) as your default reading app. Whenever your child views a book, they'll see a button that searches your specific app instantly!
Yes, because we do not ask for or store your library card information. KRKB only uses the public book title and securely links you directly to your app's public search page. Your library checkout happens entirely within your own library's secure system.
While KRKB focuses on reviews and writing, you can easily read full books by setting up the Digital Library Integration. Go to your Profile or Parent Portal to connect your preferred reading app (Libby, Sora, or Hoopla) and check out e-books from your local library or school!
Curated shelves are book lists a teacher or librarian can build for a unit, display, genre, challenge, or Reading Program. Readers can use them as a focused place to find books.
Reading Programs are join-by-link or join-by-code initiatives for school libraries, public libraries, book clubs, seasonal reading, review crews, and class programs. They are separate from rostered classrooms so each program can have its own participants and sharing page.
Challenges let a teacher or librarian turn reading goals, review tasks, quizzes, story prompts, or event activities into something readers can follow.
Go to the Quizzes tab in the menu. You can browse available quizzes for books you've read. Complete them to earn points and badges!
Yes! Click the "Create Quiz" button on the Quizzes page. You'll need to select a book and write questions and answers. Your quiz will be reviewed before going live.
Visit the Clubs page to see active groups. Some are open to everyone, while others might require a request to join. Clubs are great for discussing specific genres or series.
Yes! Use the Stories feature to write and publish your own short stories. You can even collaborate with friends.
Occasionally we run contests or challenges with rewards. Keep an eye on the homepage and your notifications for special events!
